Arlington Echo Outdoor Education Center
Arlington Echo Outdoor Education Center is seeking dedicated individuals for the formation of a new volunteer group, the Friends of Arlington Echo. This exciting new organization will train and coordinate volunteers to assist Arlington Echo staff in a variety of outdoor education experiences. Duties may include working with display aquariums and animal collections, maintaining and establishing native plant gardens, assisting with restoration projects and teaching students about our local environment and the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Volunteers may be asked to work at either Arlington Echo or one of its outdoor education program sites, and assist with special events. Help get students outdoors! Do you care about protecting the environment? Think high school students should care too? We need a science educator committed to outdoor experiences for young people. The BTW educator facilitates day-long, curriculum-based field studies for high schools students in an outdoor setting at national parks in the DC-metro area or . The position also includes contacting teachers, pre- and post-field study classroom visits, data recording and reporting. The BTW educator will be required to come to the Alice Ferguson Foundation’s Washington, DC-area office for training and occasional meetings (primary workspace will be in Hagerstown, MD).

Bridging the Watershed Student Action Coordinator
Do you have what it takes to inspire high school students to care about the environment? We need an enthusiastic nature lover with education experience to develop and implement an environmental education program for high school students that encourages them to return to the outdoors, participate in service projects, and pursue internships and careers in the natural resources field. The Student Action Coordinator will also facilitate day-long, curriculum-based field studies to high schools students in an outdoor setting at national parks in the Washington, D.C. metro region through a one-year, full-time appointment.

Arlington Echo Outdoor Education Center: Outdoor Education Intern [Ongoing]
Serve as a paid intern by assisting the instructional staff at Arlington Echo Outdoor Education Center in Millersville, MD. Work involves maintaining the aquaculture lab (including eels, yellow perch, diamondback terrapins, horseshoe crabs), propagating native plants, facilitating low ropes course, instructing parent volunteers on outdoor education lessons and maintaining materials of instruction. All interns assist with relevant environmental action including storm infiltration projects. Interns assist teachers in planning, implementing and evaluating instructional lessons and programs; participate in staff development activities and in the preparation of instructional materials. POSITION DUTIES: The Department of Natural Resources, Hooked on Fishing Not on Drugs® program, is currently accepting applications for an Angler Education Instructor at Patapsco Valley State Park. The position will run from July 2 to August 8. Duties include:
Teaching basic fishing skills to children ages 8-15; skills include knot tying, casting, catch and release, fish identification

Chesapeake Bay Foundation: SEASONAL FIELD EDUCATOR [6.24.08]
Island Residential Environmental Education Centers
The Chesapeake Bay Foundation seeks two seasonal field educators for the fall 2008 field season. This position often leads to a fulltime educator position. The field educator will live and teach at one of our four island centers. The position includes room and board and $1000/month.
The locations of the residential centers for fall seasonal staff are as follows:
The Fox Island Education Center
The Karen E. Noonan Center for Environmental Education at Bishops Head (Crocheron, MD)
The Port Isobel Education Center (East and West)
Must participate in a criminal history check and USCG drug-testing program. Training will be required in Wilderness First Responder, boater safety, canoe training, community water safety and CPR.
